These sides are like facets of a magnificent diamond; just as a flash from one side of a diamond sends out a ray of light, so will developing even one of the following qualities help illuminate your life.
• Enjoys her body and cares for it out of pride, not vanity.
• Recognises the beauty she carries within her and allows this to
radiate outwards.
•Tantric sexual goddesses can generate powerful energy sometimes by a soft touch and
sometimes with explosive orgasmic contractions.

• Understands the wisdom of sharing her sexual energy only with
those who can appreciate such beauty.

ready to test limits.
• Knows that her sexuality can include many aspects of herself and
can be exhibited in a range of ways, for instance from ‘lace to leather’,
or from being meditative and subtle to passionate and erotic.
• Knows how to express her erotic and sexual nature, thus empowering
herself physically as well as emotionally and spiritually.
• Understands that her sexual energy is healing, life affirming and

“Many women have told me how important their body shape is in making
them feel good about themselves, attractive and sexy. But it’s not your
shape alone that makes you feel this way; it’s how much positive acceptance
and appreciation you have of your body that makes the difference — how
connected you feel with your physical self. “
Are you a woman who feels confident with her own sexual goddess has
developed an acceptance and appreciation of her body – this is body confidence!
Whether dressed or naked, she appreciates her shapes, colours, contours, and
softness, for she knows a goddess can be shaped in infinite varieties, all with
the potential to radiate beauty, sensuality and sexuality. When a woman’s
thoughts and her body are connected, her mind is supporting her body’s
feeling of pleasure, and vice-versa. This positive body connection adds to
her enjoyment of being alive and to her sensual and sexual pleasure.
Aphrodite was joyfully proud of her own body, appreciating it as an
expression of the divine nature of the universe. Hopefully, you are more
and more inspired to nurture and celebrate the goddess within you. Yet in
practice, what is really going to happen the next time your lover wants to
take you to bed? You go to the bathroom; you’re naked and then you look
in the mirror and notice your breasts or your thighs; you catch yourself
thinking variations of ‘my thighs are too big’, or ‘my breasts are too small
or too saggy’ or ‘I’ve got cellulite’.
Many women have told me how important their body shape is in making
them feel good about themselves, attractive and sexy. But it’s not your
shape alone that makes you feel this way; it’s how much positive acceptance
and appreciation you have of your body that makes the difference — how
connected you feel with your physical self. Learning Tantra can help you build confidence in your body.
When asked if they like the look of their body, a lot of women
answer ‘No!’ For many others, the answer is a hesitant ‘Yes’, nearly always
accompanied by ‘except for my breasts, legs, hips, nose, tummy…’ Even
women acclaimed by others in the fashion or beauty industries as beautiful
seem to have things they don’t like about their bodies.
Most women immediately think about their ‘imperfections’, those parts
of themselves they would most like to change, more readily than the parts
they enjoy. Most women are especially concerned about their weight. In the
West, women have a view that to be slimmer is to be more beautiful, but
interestingly enough, in surveys I’ve conducted in my workshops, men don’t
necessarily agree. Men say that what’s more of a turn-off is a woman who is
always complaining about her body and who is pre-occupied with her shape.

Innana captured Diane’s imagination when she read the book Innana by Wolkstein and Kramer.
It was subtitled the ‘Queen of Heaven and Earth, Her stories and hymns from Sumer.’
Sumer was the cradle of civilization, the modern day Iran and Iraq.
In the Sumerian tales which date back to 2000BC inscribed on clay tablets, are hundreds of compositions – myths,
epic tales , hymns, psalms, love songs, laments, essays, disputations, proverbs and fables.
One of Diane’s favourite Tantric Erotic Poems is the love song between Innana and her shepherd consort Dumuzi.
Innana spoke:
“What I tell you, Let the singer weave into a song, what I tell you, Let it flow from ear to mouth, Let it pass from old to young:
My vulva, the horn, The boat of heaven, Is full of eagerness like the full moon. My untilled land lies fallow.
As for me, Innana, Who will plow my vulva? Who will plow my high field? Who will plow my wet ground?
As for me, the young woman, Who will plow my vulva? Who will station the ox there? Who will plow my vulva?”
Dumuzi replied: “Great lady, the king will plow your vulva. I, Dumuzi the kind will plow your vulva.
Innana: “Then low my vulva, man of my heart! Plow my vulva!”
Excerpt from Diane’s book, Sacred and Sexy, p18:
A goddess who predated Aphrodite was Inanna from Sumeria. Inanna
was considered ‘queen of heaven and earth’ and she embodied one of
the most ancient forms of the goddess of love and sensuality. When I first
came across her stories and hymns, they captured my imagination. Taken
from Sumerian tablets dating more than 2,000 B.C.E. they are stories of
passionate and erotic love, as well as Inanna’s journey to the underworld
and back. I was moved by the beauty of the erotic poetic verse (I call this Tantric Poetry)
and felt disappointed that the portrayal of this quality of sexual intimacy is difficult
to find in popular literature, let alone in our culture as a whole today.
In a Western society where female images are often exploitative and disempowering, how can we reconcile and integrate our sexuality with our spirit?
At particular times in antiquity, women’s sexuality was seen as sacred. There is a rich mythology that surrounds the principle of the sacred feminine and sexuality. If we look back and understand the reason for that connection between pleasure and spirit, we can discover the relevance of these ideas to our contemporary lives and use these ancient principles to our benefit now.
Aphrodite, the best known ‘goddess of love’ in Western tradition can offer us many lessons on the value of desire and pleasure within the feminine being.
Aphrodite, a Greek goddess first written about by the Greek poets Homer and Hesoid around 700 B.C.C. was revered for her power sexuality, and grace. The goddess was pivotal to many early, earth-centred civilisations; and was considered the creative source of all life.

Well another year has finished, and what a wonderful year it was for Tantra and the Divine Feminine. And both Kerry and myself have been busy blessing in 2015, by renewing our alter to honour Divine love, joy, and pleasure; for our ourselves, our family, our friends; and the community at large.
On our Tantric alter we include our lovers teacups that are beautifully crafted and unique, they were crafted by hand by a potter in Armidale; and we have had these cups for over 20 years. I use these cups to serve mint-tea for every couple that I work with. Kerry and I use these teacups ourselves for our own Tantric rituals; I believe they gather power, and thus the cup of love deepens.
We like to cover the different elements, ensuring we acknowledge the four directions, and five elements; which is why we include candles, incense, precious shells, rocks and flowers.
A new addition since our trip to Kyoto, Japan is a sacred Buddhist bell which has a beautiful resonance and after we ring it the tone can be heard for a very long time. I imagine our intention and blessing being carried to the edge of the universe by its sound.
The Tanka hanging on the wall behind our alter is of a Vajrasatta and Ghantapani in Yab Yum. They are a couple in a bliss experience which spreads beyond them influencing family, community, country, the earth and all things. Together in union they embody compassion and wisdom, attaining oneness and peace.
So I encourage you to renew your alter for the New Year, if you haven’t already, with some of your favourite things. Imagine that you are doing this for a VIP, because Tantra is about having beauty around, as much as possible.
Both Kerry and I send you great blessings for the year ahead.
In Tantra, males and females see the divine not only in each other’s faces; they also see the divine in each other’s genitals. In Hindu temples, there are replicas (usually stone carvings) of the Shiva lingam (the penis of Shiva). These do not represent the genitals of a male but the masculine, divine principle of Lord Shiva, the ever renewing erection of male creativity; the ‘Shiva essence’. Many religious rites involve offerings and prayers to the Shiva lingam to honour this divine energy of creation.
When the male organ is honoured as the Shiva lingam, love-making takes on a different meaning. His lingam becomes a manifestation of Shiva’s creative energy and, by immersing yourself in deep appreciation of his masculine energy; you are absorbing this creative force (the Shiva essence) into yourself. This will mix with your natural feminine energy (your Shakti essence) to create wholeness, and may give you a feeling of expanded consciousness or, some would say, create a transcendental state.
