‘Have you ever experienced waves of pleasure radiating throughout your body after making love? Have you felt a pulse from your vagina down your thighs to your toes and up through your belly, breasts and shoulders to your fingertips? Have you experienced a heart so full, that you’re in a state of bliss, feeling totally enlivened in your body and totally satiated on every level: body, heart and soul?

If you find yourself saying, ‘I’d like that’ or ‘Yes, and I want more’, then this book is for you. In these pages are the secrets to opening your sexuality to new dimensions, physically, emotionally and spiritually.

In certain ancient cultures, when a woman was in such a blissful state, her sexuality was imbued with spirituality. It was considered a sacred experience. In these times, feminine wisdom, including sexual knowledge, was passed down in women’s places of learning, from one wise woman to another. Until recently, this rich inheritance of knowledge and sexual practices had been lost and suppressed and the sacred aspect of sex denied.

However change is unfolding. We as women continue to challenge and change our roles in family, career, religion and politics and more recently in our sexuality….

We have seen a swing in mainstream cultural attitudes towards sex. Our parents or grandparents grew up in a culture where the overriding attitudes towards sex were based on repression and inhibition. On the other side of the spectrum contemporary culture can be overtly provocative and exhibitionistic when it comes to sex and sexuality.
What it is to be a sexy woman has been affected by a growing commercialisation of female sexuality and sometimes influenced by the male stereotype of sexual behaviour.

What is missing and what I feel is the next step in developing our sexuality is exploring the sacredness of female sexuality. Many of us yearn for sex as something beautiful, transformative and deeply connecting. We are seeking a more spiritual yet intensely passionate way of expressing our sexual love.

Increasingly we understand the importance of honouring the sacred balance on our planet and in our relationships with the living world around us, in order to live sustainably and in harmony with the environment. I feel it is natural to extend this concept to a most fundamental aspect of our lives – sexuality.

So this is not just a book on a hundred and one ways to drive a man wild in bed. It undoubtedly will do that but it’s more about women recognising they have a tremendous heritage of feminine sexuality that is a source of richness, strength and energy that they can tap into. The energy is not only erotic but also has a sacred dimension to it.
In Sexy and Sacred you will discover and celebrate a new depth of sexual acceptance, realise your sacred feminine power, expand your knowledge of sexual skills and on a practical level, enjoy your lovemaking a whole lot more. You’ll bless your partner with experiences he won’t forget!

This book explores sacred sex for women and how to cultivate your sexual pleasure and bring more soulfulness into sexual intimacy. There are numerous books that have brought information on sacred sexuality to the west, especially in the area of Tantra from ancient India and Taoism sexology from ancient China. These books have been written from original texts written by men for men and so the information revolves around what the man can do for sexual and spiritual enlightenment, not what the woman can do! Few sexual secrets are disclosed for women to enhance their own sexual pleasure with their partners, particularly in the case where the woman is the initiator. Practices for women are not easy to find.

However, through my studies of modern sexology, studies and experiences with contemporary Tantra and numerous related teachings on the subject of sacred sex, as well as my research on feminine sexual traditions, I have discovered connecting threads that reveal secrets about female sacred sexuality. So an innovative and distinguishing feature of this book is that the secrets of sacred sex are presented from a woman’s perspective.

For most women the quality of their sexual experience is tightly linked with the level emotional intimacy they feel with their partner. This book examines ways to develop and enhance heartfelt connection between lovers.

I write from a heterosexual orientation; however I do invite lesbian and gay women to also take and adapt what practices they choose. These practices can bring extra love, pleasure and connection into every woman’s experience.

On a personal note, I have three children, have been married for 28 years, run my own business and thoroughly understand the pressures of modern day living, so I’ve included practices in this book that are down-to-earth and ‘do-able’. They have helped sustain love and sexual passion in my life and constantly bring fresh juice to my relationship. I trust they will work for you because they have been successful for hundreds of women of all ages and from all backgrounds who have attended my seminars, workshops and private consultations.

The first part of the book, ‘Awakening your Inner Sexiness’, includes information and practices that are beneficial for all ages, including some practices that may be introduced to girls and young women. The second half outlines advanced practices for the adventurous. So let us begin…”
